The Problems of Christian Philosophy

It seems to me and to many that, first and foremost, perhaps what makes philosophy Christian is that it forms the basis of theological thinking and theological science as “ancilla theology”.However, its current framework is tight, too rigid to accommodate the new. Philosophy does not seem to want to take on the role of “servant of theology,” and theology does not seem to require a philosophical foundation.Perhaps best felt in Karl Rahner's theology is that, almost without a philosophical foundation, he studied Heidegger's existentialist philosophy, and therefore seemed to build his theological system "out of the air."

"The tensions in the life of our church over the last few decades have been reflected in theology and have been experienced by theologians. For in the closed system in which theology - and to a greater or lesser extent our Church - lived, and into which it was almost immersed, it was not possible to incorporate either the ever more widely known biblical revelation, or the ever wider horizon of philosophical-historical reflection, or the ever increasing knowledge and results of the natural sciences.” (From the inaugural speech of Archbishop András Szennay. l984.)

New utterances in the modern sciences require a new - or at least alternative - framework of thought - ahead of theology - primarily in philosophy: "The new wine must be put into new bottles". But what makes this a Christian? I want to search and get an answer to this question!
