... The father of one of his classmates was a Communist Party secretary before retiring on a high pension. He glorified socialism. According to him, the cause of all the trouble was the pre-war gentleman's society, and now the civil parties after the change of regime. However, the grandfather of another classmate was executed innocently after '56. This classmate considers the old and present communists to be the cause of all trouble.

What they have in common is that neither of them dare to speak in front of anyone because they are afraid of the others. In front of Kinga, anyone dares to say anything because they feel there is no need to be afraid of her. She is happy about it, and she is not. She is happy because she enjoys the trust of others. Her joy, however, is undermined by the fact that she does so not in principle, but because she does not have a definite opinion on these issues. Whatever she listens to, she feels that everyone has a partial truth. But where is the whole truth? ...
